This program comes up with an innovative working environment to promote the ibio R&D from a global perspective, that includes several topics of the process: from the research to the production, as well as the comercialization and the transference of products with added value for their introduction onto the main regional economies.
The main goal is to promote and strenghten UNL’s innovation related areas, motivating the scientific-bio approach and its relation with the productive system, as a strategic axis for economic, social and sustainable development.
For that matter, UNL encourages the promotion of innovative scientific projects development and also new entrepreneurships linked to products and processes derived from bioeconomy.Theactivitiesonthis programe -such as thescientific training, theinvestigation and development of academic bio-policies- areplannedconsideringtheregion’sneeds.

The main goal is to make a responsable use of products, materials and resources (water, energy and biomass), so that they can be on the economic circuit for the longest time posible and therefore the waste production is reduced. In other words, circular economy is not posible if thought outside bioeconomy’s approach.
UNL relies on a wide scientific and technological skills development, spreaded through de different academic units and institutes. That turns the University into an academic leader on this field. The strategy consists on generating impact results, investigation and training, emphasizing experimental research on bio-sciences.
