GLOBAL COMPETITIVENESS PROGRAM FOR SMEs (GCPyMes) - FCE UNL

About the Program

The Global Competitiveness Program for SMEs (GCP) is an international training program to do consulting work, especially focused on Small and Medium Enterprises that aim to enter into the international competitiveness environment.

This is a joint development program between the School of Economics “G. Fuà” of the Università Politecnica delle Marche, Ancona, Italy, and the School of Economics of the Universidad Nacional del Litoral (UNL).

The project aims to improve students’ intercultural experience, by working in multinational teams doing business consulting and solving real problems for real companies. Students must prepare a business plan to be delivered, in the last day of the program, to the company’s management. Professors from both schools will be tutors and advisors to the teams.

The proposed assignments will be based on real companies of the region of the School of Economics, UNL, Santa Fe, Argentina, and they will be focused on any aspect of their international performance. Students, after receiving a work proposal from the company (a product they wish to introduce or believe possible to introduce to a specific market, i.e., a product-market pair), will work in self-managed teams of 5 to 7 members, supported by international professors.

During the first week, they will make contact with the company, gather data and reports in order to begin designing an opinion, which will finally be presented at the end of the second week in a Recommendation Report delivered to the company after a formal presentation where they can interact with the respective teams. Ultimately, it will be the SME company that, based on their opinion, determines whether the work is satisfactory, whether they choose to implement it or not. The purpose is to evaluate the management of the students (potential advisors once graduated). In fact, several initiatives suggested by these teams were later put into practice.

The entire program is conducted in English, and contact with a company representative is required for both the group and the professor acting as support, in order to facilitate an agile dynamic of interaction. Visits to the companies themselves may occur, or if distance or opportunity dictates, the entire action can be conducted virtually or remotely.
